SCHOOLGIRLS LEAGUE 2008 - 2009
Preview for 7th November / 8th November
On Friday night we have the refixed Under 18 game between Douglas Hall and Passage at Moneygourney. This is a vital game for both sides as neither have yet any points on the board. It's probable more vital for the home side to win as they have already played 3 games while Passage have just the one game under their belt.
On Saturday we start with the Under 12 Premier Division and the clash of Lakewood Athletic and Wilton United. Usually we associate this game as the top of the table clash but in this instance, while Lakewood are indeed the league leaders, Wilton have yet to get a point on the board and on form they will struggle to get anything out of this one. With Corinthians having a free week, the winners in the Ballinhassig vs. Buttevant tie will join them in second spot so this will be an interesting game. .
In Division 1, leaders Kinsale put their 100% record on the line when they make the short journey to Carrigaline. It's the same situation for Innishvilla as they travel to Douglas Hall where a win for the home side would put them level with their opponents. Crosshaven will be confident of a victory over bottom side Glounthaune and a win here would also put them in the mix with the leaders. So at the end of the day we could have a number of teams level at the top of the table.
With Riverstown FC not playing this weekend Richmond have a chance to go back on top of the table but they will have a tough game on their hands when they travel to Youghal United. The other tie between St. Marys and Avondale United at Kilcully is a hard one to call and a draw could be on the cards here.
On Sunday we have only on Under 16 Premier tie on the cards due to many players being involved in the Schools competition. Ballinhassig will be hoping for a win at home to Crosshaven which would keep them in the chase at the top.
In Division 1, leaders Ballincollig have a home tie against Glounthaune United and should just shade this one, although the visitors are always a hard side to beat. It will be a very tight affair at Waterfall as Richmond FC entertain Carrigaline United and with both sides on six points, this is a huge game to win. Finally St.Marys have a home tie against Park United and will be very anxious to get some points on the board.
Good luck to all teams!
