In the Kevin Barry Cup Pool B, it was honours even between Village United and Examiner/Echo as they played out a 0 - 0 draw. Village will probably be the more disappointed as a win would have kept them well in contention for a semi-final spot. They will now have to get a win against Rathcoole Rovers in their final group game which will be a very tough assignment. Examiner/Echo will be happy with their first point on the board and will now hope to build on that performance. In Pool A, dense fog caused the postponement of the Ballinhassig vs. Pfizer United game. Watergrasshill United kept up their chase for a semi-final spot but had to work hard for their 2 - 1 victory over an ever improving Fusion side.
In Pool A, Millstreet Celtic go to the top of the Pool after their 3 - 0 win over Crosshaven. Ballinhassig vs. Pfizer United was called off due to heavy fog.

There was one game in Division 1 and it resulted in a hard fought 2 - 4 win for Riverstown FC at Watergrasshill United to send them top of the table but with 2 games more played than Ballinhassig. See MATCH REPORT for details.
Again there was just one game played in Division 2 as the Village vs. Crosshaven match had to be postponed due to pitch damage due to bonfire night. In the game played, Pfizer United had a good 5 - 0 victory over Examiner/Echo who now find themselves being cut adrift at the bottom of the table.
RESULTS FOR 17th JUNE
With Lakewood Rangers not playing, Wilton United took the opportunity to go top of the Premier Division with a crushing 0 - 8 victory at Bandon. Bandon completed their League double over Carrigaline United with a good 4 - 2 win at Town Park.
It was the 1st Round of the Steve Quinn Cup for all the other sides. Millstreet won the North Cork derby against Rathcoole Rovers on a 3 - 0 scoreline to underline the "swings and roundabout" results between these neighbours this season. Crosshaven continued their great season with another Division 1 scalp. This time it was Watergrasshill United who were put to the Camden sword with the home side victorious on a 3 - 2 scoreline. Deirdre Green (2) and Julianne Kingston were on target for the winners while Marion Lynch and Caoimhe McElhinny were the Hill scorers. See MATCH REPORT. Division 1 leaders Ballinhassig had too much firepower for Pfizer United winning 0 - 4. Likewise Riverstown FC were always in control in their tie against Examiner/Echo. Breda Power and Imelda Kelly had them two up at the break. Kelly hit a third in the second half as Riverstown made numerous substitutions and positional changes. To their credit, Examiner/Echo battled hard for the whole game and never gave up the fight but it was always comfortable for the home side. Fusion really found their scoring boots in their tie away to fellow Division 2 side Village United, winning 2 - 6. Olivia Curtin and Diane Barret got the Village scores.
RESULTS FROM 3rd JUNE
Lakewood Rangers and Wilton United played out a 0 - 0 draw at Lee Road which means there is not change at the top of the table. Cobh Ramblers failed to capitalise on that results and go joint top as they were held to a 1 - 1 draw by Carrigaline United. Douglas Hall have still to get their first point of the season after their 1 - 2 defeat by Ballincollig. Eileen Collins scored the Hall goal while Susan Donovan and Charlotte Cahill were on target for the winners.
The Kevin Barry Cup got under way with the first series of games. In Group A Crosshaven were victorious against Riverstown FC on a 1 - 0 scoreline. Both sides were understrength for this game but Riverstown did have the majority of the play but just could not manufacture anything from it. With 15 minutes to go Crosshaven were awared a free kick on the left side of midfield. The resulting inswinger was expertly met by Majella McCarthy whose header gave the Riverstown keeper no chance. Riverstown continued to apply the pressure to the end but just could not find the net and indeed almost got caught on the break on a couple of occasions but good defending saved the day. Karen O'Sullivan played well for the winners while Breda Power and Michelle Hourihan battled hard for the losers. Ballinhassig continued their winning form with a 0 - 2 victory over Millstreet Celtic. Both goals came in the second half and both were scored by Aileen O'Leary.
In Group B, Rathcoole Rovers were big winners over Examiner/Echo winning 0 - 7. Laura Coughlan (2), Gail Finn (2), Eibhlis Gayer, Eileen Kelly and Maria Feehan were the scorers.
In the Division 2 tie, Fusion defeated Pfizer United 6 - 1. Meanwhile Watergrasshill United proved too strong for a gallant Village United side, winning 1 - 4 at Mayfield. Olivia Curtin was on target for the home side.
The one outstanding Challenge Cup 1st Round game resulted in a 0 - 6 victory for Crosshaven over their hosts Examiner/Echo. All goals came in the second half, which seems to be a feature of Crosshaven's games this season. Karen O'Sullivan (2), Majella McCarthy, Julie-Ann Kingston, Sharon Murphy and Deirdre Green were the goal scorers. There were also good displays from Trish Harrington, Noreen and Trish O'Callaghan.
RESULTS FROM WEDNESDAY 27th MAY
Wilton United returned to winning ways this week with an emphatic 0 - 7 victory over Douglas Hall. Likewise Cobh Ramblers kept up their early season good from with a 3 - 1 victory over Bandon at St.Colmans Park. Ramblers dominated the game for the most part with Chloe Smith chipping the keeper after a great run and perfect pass from Mary Guilfoyle. They then made it 2 when Lorna Phelan was on target with one of her spectacular corners. Early in the second half Ramblers wrapped up the points wehn Elaine Feen was on target once again. A lapse in concentration did lead to Bandon pulling a goal back with a brilliant effort from Sarah Galvin, into the bottom corner of the net. Colleen Deasy and Linda Crowley were excellent for the visitors while Chloe Smith, Jamie Harrington and Mary McDonnell were the stars for Ramblers. Ramblers would like to thank stand in manager, Peter Rowe for the work he put in this week, especially with the arrival of the new Peter Jnr into this world.
In the Challenge Cup 1st Round, there were victories for Ballinhassig at Watergrasshill United on a 1 - 2 scoreline. Village United beat Pfizers United by 3 - 0. Amanda Dorgan got two, with the other coming from the boot of Janine Dorgan. Riverstown FC proved a little too strong for their hosts Fusion at Garryduff, coming away with a 1 - 5 victory. Full back Rosarie Cullinane opened the scoring for the visitors, when her shot was wickedly deflected into the net. Michelle Hourihan added a second just before the break. Early in the second half, Riverstown looked to have wrapped it up when Louise O''Dowda sent a beautiful lob over the keeper to make it 0 - 3. But Fusion never gave up and their spirited performance, allied with a bit of complacency in Riverstown''s rearguard, produced a goal back from their Number 8. But that gave the visitors the scare they needed and they upped their workrate again which resulted in one of the goals of the season when centre half, Megan Spillane took a shot from just inside the half way line that went in just under the crossbar giving the home keeper no chance. Louise Studdard and Norma O''Connell battled gamely for Fusion but at this stage it was like trying to stop the incoming tide, with wave after wave of Riverstown attacks. The fifth goal was made and scored by left winger Ann Marie O''Callaghan who along with Michelle Hourihan on the right wing, tormented the Fusion defence all night. Louise O''Dowda in midfield and Imelda Kelly up front were also very effective for Riverstown on the night.
On Thursday evening, Rathcoole Rovers got revenge for their League defeat by defeating near neighbours Millstreet Celtic on a 3 - 2 scoreline. Laura Coughlan with two, and Sinead Casey were on the scoresheet for the winners.
We welcome reports and photographs from games but would ask that when doing a match report to include names and scorers from the opposition.
